With even the National Hockey League going outside for games these days with their annual Winter Classic, it’s no wonder outdoor ice skating has become a growing trend. Idaho offers many beautiful opportunities to get outside and skate, from city rinks to mountain lakes to the largest man-made rink in the Pacific Northwest, there’s an ice skating option for everyone.
Some highlights include the following:
Christina Potters Outdoor Rink – This rink, located in Ketchum, Idaho and spanning a massive 2 acres, is the largest of its kind in the Pacific Northwest. With free hockey gear, skates, and goals, this is a great place for a pick up game with some friends.
Round Lake State Park – This rink, located near Sandpoint, Idaho, is situated on Round Lake and has a speed skating and regular ice rink maintained by park staff. They do not have skates for rent here, however.
