Beginning in 1984 with a five day festival hosting a few thousand people, the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has grown to cover the entire month of April, allowing hundreds of thousands of visitors from all 50 states and 85 foreign countries to view millions of tulips in bloom. Over 20 farms around Mount Vernon, Washington offer a driving tour through their fields. Tulips arranged in a variety of field patterns each year contain rows of red, yellow and white backing up to the the valley hills. RoozenGaarde and Tulip Town offer an interactive experience allowing guests to walk through fields, buy bulbs and bouquets, or enjoy lunch while walking through windmill gardens with rare and crossbreed tulips. Admission fees and directions can be found on the festival’s website.
